From the Northeast Dolomites this cycle path leads through the Val Pusteria, from Bressanone to Brunico. The bikes will then head towards Bolzano, the capital of South Tyrol, where you can visit the famous “Ötzi”. Afterwards you reach the spa town of Merano with its Mediterranean atmosphere. Along the Adige river you will cycle between orchards and green plateaus until you first reach Trento and then on the shores of Lake Garda.

Easy difficulty level

The journey takes place mainly on cycle paths, secondary roads and partly on dirt roads passable with city-bike type bicycles. The itinerary is for everyone and suitable for families with children from 14 years; there is only one demanding climb on the last day.

ITINERARIO

1° giorno Arrivo a Bressanone

2° giorno Bressanone – transfer a Dobbiaco – Brunico ca. 30 km
In mattinata transfer a Dobbiaco, consegna bici e documenti di viaggio.

La ciclabile ci permette di passare attraverso la famosa Val di Braies, che si estende verso sud. Dopo aver superato il lago di Valdaora, si procede seguendo il fiume Rienza fino a Brunico, che ha dato i natali al pittore Michael Pacher.

3° giorno Brunico – Chiusa ca. 50/55 km
Si pedala attraverso la valle dell’Isarco, la destinazione odierna è Chiusa.

4° giorno Chiusa – Bolzano ca. 30 km
Proseguiamo lungo la valle dell’Isarco, passando per il paesino di Ponte Gardena. La tappa si conclude a Bolzano, dove passeremo due notti.

5° giorno Bolzano – Merano – Bolzano ca. 40 km
Al mattino raggiungiamo Merano in treno; da qui scendiamo lungo il corso dell’Adige fino a tornare a Bolzano.

6° giorno Bolzano – Trento ca. 65/70 km
Oggi possiamo scegliere se seguire la ciclabile dell’Adige o il percorso che passa da Caldaro; i due percorsi si ricongiungono a Salorno, dove finisce la provincia di Bolzano ed inizia quella di Trento; in breve raggiungiamo il capoluogo.

7° giorno Trento – Riva del Garda/Torbole ca. 45 km
Passiamo da Rovereto, dove una volte si trovava il confine con il Tirolo, lasciamo la valle dell’Adige e superiamo il passo di San Giovanni (287m) e scendiamo sul lago fino a Riva del Garda.

8° giorno Riva del Garda/Torbole, termine viaggio dopo colazione
