The tour begins and ends near the beautiful and fascinating city of Assisi. The quiet streets, ideal for cyclists, the hills covered with cypresses, olive groves and vineyards make this trip an unforgettable moment. You can admire the medieval cities of Spello, Montefalco, Bevagna (with its beautiful square where the two Romanesque churches and the town hall overlook) and Torgiano, surrounded by hills of olive groves and vineyards.

ITINERARY

1st day

Individual arrival in Viole di Assisi and tour of Assisi approx. 3 Km You can take advantage of the first day to visit Assisi, a beautiful medieval city, built on a spur of Mount Subasio. Its imposing appearance, with its magnificent fortress, towers and medieval buildings, already manifests itself in the distance. Assisi, a city of pilgrimage, is closely linked to Saints Francesco and Chiara. The jewel of the city is certainly the basilica of S. Francesco with the frescoes by Giotto, Cimabue, Lorenzetti and Simone Martini.

2nd day Violas of Assisi – Spello – Foligno – Spoleto ca. 51/53 Km

You cycle up to Spello, one of the most beautiful villages in Italy, with its picturesque streets. You can admire the church of S.Maria Maggiore, where Pinturicchio left one of his masterpieces. The itinerary continues in the Spoleto Valley passing Foligno, then a flat path will take you to Spoleto, whose historic center is largely surrounded by medieval walls. The city is famous for the Festival dei due Mondi in July.

3rd day Spoleto – Bevagna approx. 35/40 Km

Today you can choose to go up to Montefalco or proceed on an almost flat but longer than 5 km route. Cycling through vineyards and fields you arrive in Bevagna, a characteristic medieval town surrounded by ancient walls.

4th day Bevagna – Torgiano – Assisi – Violas of Assisi ca. 37/52 Km

Leaving Bevagna you meet a slight climb up to the Colle del Torre village, then follow an almost flat route to Assisi. You can choose to visit Torgiano, which dominates the Tiber valley at the confluence with the Chiascio. The Graziani-Baglioni palace houses the Wine Museum, which is worth a visit. Next to the museum is the tavern owned by the Lungarotti family. Here you can taste their excellent wines. After Torgiano you cross the valley through quiet streets. From afar you will have a beautiful view of Assisi, it is worth making one last effort to reach its historic center.

5th day Violas of Assisi. End of the journey after breakfast
