PALERMO
Arrival in Palermo (with flight and rent car not included but bookable on our website) Accommodation and overnight at the hotel. You will meet a local guide at 18:00 next to the Teatro Massimo, the third most important opera house in Europe. Then you will go to the square known as "Quattro canti" and to Piazza Pretoria, both places are the heart of the old city. The next stop will be the ancient Arab area called Kalsa, where you will see the huge ficus planted in Garibaldi's garden. WALKING TOUR OF THE CENTER OF HISTORICAL PALERMO WITH LOCAL GUIDE
Breakfast at hotel. 9.45 am meeting with the local guide and start of the tour from the main square of the old town, "Quattro canti", where you will see works of art from the Spanish era. Then you go to Piazza Pretoria, where there is the enchanting fountain of shame. This beautiful work of art represents the power and importance of Palermo during the 16th century. The next stop will be the interior of the town hall from which you can enjoy a view of the UNESCO sites, such as the church of San Cataldo, characterized by three red domes, and the Martorana church, the gem of the Arab-Norman style. Then you will walk through the main street of the center, Vittorio Emanuele where the Cathedral is located; it is an example of various architectural styles from remote eras. SYRACUSE: VISIT WITH LOCAL GUIDE
After breakfast departure for Syracuse. 10.00 am meeting with the local guide in Ponte Umbertino, one of the two bridges that connect the island of Sicily with the island of Ortigia, the historic center of Syracuse. Here the guide will welcome you and introduce you to the history of the city. After crossing the bridge, you will stop in front of the temple of Apollo, the oldest Doric temple in Sicily, and in Piazza Archimede, named after the illustrious Syracusan scientist who lived in the third century BC. You will continue to Piazza Duomo, where you will admire the cathedral and the church of Santa Lucia alla Badia, and eventually you will find yourself in Fonte Aretusa, a source of fresh water that overlooks the Grand Port of Syracuse.
